What Is Naturopathic Medicine?
Naturopathic medicine recognizes an inherent self-healing process in people that is ordered and intelligent. Naturopathic physicians act to identify and remove obstacles to healing and recovery, and to facilitate and augment this inherent self-healing process. The practice of Naturopathic medicine concentrates on whole-patient wellness and blends centuries-old natural, non-toxic therapies with current advances in the study of health and human systems.
What Patients Can Expect From Their Visit
A first-time naturopathic medical visit is distinctive from other medical appointments in its comprehensiveness and collaboration: Naturopathic physicians strive to understand your whole self in order to provide treatment at the root cause, not just to address the symptoms.
Prior to your first visit, you will fill out a comprehensive intake form as well as provide any lab results or pertinent medical documents. The intake form will be sent to you when you make an appointment and sign up for a patient portal on our electronic health record system. This extensive intake form will provide Dr. Pierce with a thorough medical history and a template for you to outline your health concerns and goals.
Initial visits typically last 60-90 minutes and consist of your doctor intake review, an extensive conversation, and determination of further treatment and visit scheduling. Your doctor will provide appropriate literature regarding general nutritional guidelines and other information related to your specific health concerns.
